INDIANAPOLIS − The IUPUI Athletics Department recently renewed an agreement with locally operated WebStream Productions (WSP) for the 2009-10 season. WSP will be producing over 40 live events, allowing Jaguars’ fans the ability to watch all home basketball and volleyball games and selected soccer matches and swimming events via the internet. In addition, WSP will continue to produce weekly features on IUPUI student-athletes during the course of the season.

This marks the third straight year IUPUI has partnered with WSP.

“We think this partnership with John Servizzi and WebStream Productions is a huge boost for Jag fans everywhere,” IUPUI Associate A.D. for External Affairs John Rasmussen said. “This gives fans an opportunity to support our student-athletes by subscribing to the IUPUI LIVE! service.

“WebStream Productions is a leader in this industry and prides itself on putting out a first-rate product. The quality of their work is phenomenal and really gives the viewer an enjoyable experience.”

The All-Sports Pass, which gives access to more than 40 live events, can be purchased for $34.95 while the Basketball Season Pass is available for $24.95. The All-Sports and Basketball Passes include all road Summit League basketball games, which will be produced by the respective host institutions.

The Volleyball Season Pass, which includes all 15 home matches, is $14.95 and the Soccer Season Pass is $7.95. In addition, The Summit League Swimming Championships will also be streamed and can be purchased for $7.95. Single-games will be available for $4.95 each.

This summer, IUPUI’s internet provider Sidearm upgraded to a Flash based player, making for a better online viewing experience. In addition, past games are archived, giving the user the ability to revisit exciting home events.

Student-Athletes of the Month
Margaret Barber
Margaret Barber
Women's Swimming
IUPUI freshman swimmer Margaret Barber has been chosen the Sahm's Female Student-Athlete of the Month for January. Barber helped the women's swimming and diving team to a 4-1 record in January moving the team's record to 7-1 on the season. The seven dual wins are the most in a single-season in program history.

Barber opened the month shattering the school record in the 1,000 freestyle in a quad meet with Xavier, Saint Louis, and Western Illinois with a winning time of 10:30.82. That time bested the previous school-record time of 10:46.14 set by Sara Smith on Nov. 10, 2006. Later that meet, she posted the fifth-fastest 500 freestyle time with a mark of 5:11.88 en route to a second-place finish.

After posting another win a day later in the 200 freestyle in a dual meet with Eastern Illinois, Barber captured wins in the 200 free and 500 free on Jan. 28 at Oakland. Her 200 freestyle time of 1:54.94 was a PR and equaled the second-fastest swim in the IUPUI record books, while her 500 free time was the seventh-fastest time in program history.
Alex Young
Alex Young
Men's Basketball
IUPUI senior basketball standout Alex Young has been chosen the Sahm's Male Athlete of the Month for the month of January. The Indianapolis-native averaged a team-high 22.1 points and 5.1 boards per game, while also collecting 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals in the Jaguars' eight games.

Young scored in double-digits in all eight games, including six games of 20 points or better. He notched back-to-back 27-point outings against Oral Roberts (Jan. 14) and at South Dakota (Jan. 19) for his high water marks during the month. Against Southern Utah on Jan. 12, Young became the 3rd player in IUPUI history to eclipse the 2,000 point mark with a free throw late in the first half.

The 6-foot-6 lefty has since climbed to No. 7 on The Summit League's all-time scoring list and remains the top active scorer in all of Division I men's basketball. For the year, Young is averaging a team-high 20.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while hitting 41 percent from the field. He also leads the team with 34 steals and 26 blocked shots and ranks among The Summit League leaders by having hit 81.9 percent from the free throw line.
