INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the men’s and women’s cross country schedule for the upcoming 2009 season. Both teams are scheduled to compete in seven events, five of which will be run in the state of Indiana.
The season will begin at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge on Sept. 5, followed by four straight races in the Hoosier State. The Jaguars will take part in the IPFW Invitational on Sept. 12 before competing at the Indiana Intercollegiates at the Bird-Gibson Course in Terre Haute on Sept. 18.
IUPUI will then run in the Notre Dame Invite on Oct. 2 and ISU Pre-Nationals Meet on Oct. 17. The Summit League Championships are scheduled for Oct. 31 in Cedar City, Utah before the Jaguars come home to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet.
That race will be held in Bloomington at the IU Cross Country Course. The NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute.

Joni Sanders returns the bulk of the roster from last year’s team, including All-Summit League performer
Brittney McDuffee and the team’s Top Newcomer,
Ana Paez. In addition, senior
Jennie Jamicich will provide the Jaguars with veteran leadership, having been a top three runner her entire career.
On the men’s side, first-year Head Coach
Chuck Koeppen’s returners includes talented juniors
Joe Hoffman and
Aaron Kremer. Like the women’s team, veteran
Evan Fruits will provide an experienced presence after earning the team’s Leadership Award in 2008.
