INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI junior guard George Hill has been voted a Second Team Mid-Major All-American by the staff at CollegeHoops.net. Hill, The Summit League Player of the Year, led the conference in scoring this season at 21.4 points per game, while ranking fifth in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and assists (4.28 apg).

Hill was a preseason Third Team All-America choice by the same publication.

Davidson’s Stephen Curry was named the Mid-Major Player of the Year and was joined on the First Team by Mike Green (Butler), Courtney Lee (Western Kentucky), AZ Reid (High Point) and Jason Thompson (Rider).

Hill was accompanied on the Second Team by Lester Hudson (UT-Martin), Patty Mills (Saint Mary’s), Reggie Williams (VMI) and Gyno Pomare (San Diego).

Hill fueled IUPUI’s best season in school history in 2007-08 as the Jaguars finished at 26-7 overall and a perfect 15-0 at home this past year. Offensively, the Jaguars ranked among the nation’s top five in field goal percentage, three-point percentage and free throw percentage. Individually, Hill placed fourth in The Summit in three-point shooting (45.0 percent). fifth in field goal percentage (54.5 percent) and seventh in free throw percentage (81.2 percent). He led the league in free throws made with 199.

He was The Summit League Player of the Week four times this past season and posted nine double-doubles in 32 games, while scoring in double-figures all 32 times. He scored 20 or better 16 times and eclipsed the 30-point mark seven times. He posted a career-high 34 points on Jan. 3 at UMKC and had 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the Jags’ Dec. 1 win over UMass.

A two-time First Team All-Conference honoree, Hill will enter his senior season as the only player in school history ranked among the top 10 in career points, rebounds and assists. He stands fourth with 1,619 points, seventh with 317 assists and ninth with 547 rebounds, respectively. He also ranks among the program’s top 10 in career steals and free throws made.
