AVON, Ind. - Missing two of its top three scorers, the IUPUI women's golf team managed a seventh-place finish at the 10-team Butler Spring Invitational held this week at the par-72, 6,290-yard Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.. Junior Indiana-transfer
Tara Boone led the Jaguars with a 36-hole 174 (86-88) and sophomore
Brittany Scheetz continued her surging play, closing at 177 (88-89).

Courtney Jelinski carded a 178 (85-93), including leading the Jags with an opening round 85. Freshman
Kylie Cardwell finished 46th overall with a 185 (97-88).
Head Coach John Andrews' lineup took a hit when senior
Kelli Holloway was forced to withdraw on day two after an opening round 87. Additionally, junior
Emily Felts entered the event as an individual, but withdrew on Monday.
Ball State built an 18-stroke lead on day one of the event and withstood frigid temperatures on Tuesday to claim the title with a score of 639 (308-331). Evansville finished second at 653 (329-324) and host Butler was third at 663 (326-337).
The Jags came in at 704 (346-358), four shots in front of eighth-place Marian College.
Ball State's Kirsty O'Connor claimed medalist honors with a 154 (78-76), outdistancing the field by four shots.
The women's players will now spend the next three weeks honing their skills before taking part in The Summit League Tournament in Macomb, Ill. on April 21-22 at Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
