INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 contest to visiting Vincennes University Tuesday evening at the Indianapolis Tennis Center.
Gabriel Garcia and
Gregory Sosa each picked up singles wins for the Jaguars in a match that did not contain any doubles play.
Playing at No. 1 singles, Garcia was routed in the first set by David Jackson, 6-1. However, the senior rallied in the second, winning 8-6 in a tie-break before taking the third set super tie-break, 10-5 to grab a point for the Jaguars.
Sosa wrapped up his match before Garcia, controlling action throughout in a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Unfortunately for the Jags, Vincennes proved too strong at Nos. 3-6, taking all four matches to win the contest.
The Jaguars will head to Kansas City for their first Summit League cluster of the season. IUPUI will take on UMKC and Western Illinois on Saturday, March 29, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT. In their third match of the cluster, the Jags will face Centenary at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday, March 30.
