Paez leads Jaguars to the line for the first time, turns in 10th fastest 6K in school history

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Running just six runners, the IUPUI women's cross country team wound down the 2008 season at Saturday's NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet at the Purdue Varsity Course. Freshman Ana Paez finished her first season by running the tenth fastest 6K in IUPUI history, crossing in a time of 22:45.1. 

Paez was IUPUI's top finisher for the first time this season and she finished 65th of 229 runners.

Sophomore Brittney McDuffee finished in a time of 23:18.7 and junior Jennie Jamicich came in at 24:11.9. Junior Michelle Williams was IUPUI's fourth finisher in a time of 25:44.8 and rookie Leann Fruits rounded out the scoring five at 26:46. 

IUPUI's team score took a hit when freshman Allie McGraw was unable to finish the race. 

The Jaguars placed 27th of 34 teams with a score of 747. Michigan edged Wisconsin for the team title and Michigan State, Notre Dame and Indiana rounded out the top five. All five squads now advance to the NCAA Championships. 

MSU senior Nicole Bush won the race in a time of 20:48.5 and Michigan's Nicole Edwards was second at 20:57.4.
