INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Women’s Basketball Head Coach Shann Hart have announced that Ebony Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South), Mariah Fleming (Mt. Vernon, Ill./Mt. Vernon), Alyse Poindexter (Henderson, Ky./Henderson County) and Clara Mitchell (Lexington, Ky./East Jessamine) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the women’s basketball team in 2009-10.

“I’m really excited about our early signees,” Hart said.  “All four players will have a chance to contribute immediately to the winning tradition we continue to build at IUPUI.”

Starring at Parkway South High School, Davis ranks among the school’s all-time leading scorers, having averaged 17.5 points per game in the 2007-08 season.  Her 473 points were the third-most in a single-season at Parkway South, while her 206 rebounds were ninth all-time and her 124 blocks were first.

The 5-foot-11 forward was selected to the Missouri All-State Second Team by the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Fleming is on track to break the Mt. Vernon (Ill.) school scoring record heading into her senior year, needing 431 points to do so.  The 5-foot-11 swingman averaged 18.0 points per game for the Rams in her junior year and was a South Seven Conference First Team selection in both her sophomore and junior years.

Poindexter was ranked as the fifth-best prospect in the state of Kentucky by Rick Bolus’ High Potential Scouting Service.  The 6-foot center averaged a double-double for Henderson County in her junior year, posting 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds over 27 games.  Poindexter has helped lead the Colonels to the Second Region championship in each of the last 3 seasons.

Mitchell attended Lexington Christian her junior year, helping the Lady Eagles to the 2007 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Sweet Sixteen Championship.  The 6-foot-1 center has since transferred to East Jessamine High School for her senior season.

The Jaguars, coming off a Summit League Tournament championship game appearance in 2007-08, open their 2008-09 season in DeKalb, Ill., when they take on Northern Illinois on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. CT.  The Jags will head to West Lafayette, Ind., following the game and will play Purdue at 2 p.m. ET on Nov. 16.
